This design is being released in a new economical digital format. The soft copy package includes the building
plans and the use of the CNC cutting files. The building plans also include all boat parts dimensioned for the
builder to develop themselves if wanting to avoid CNC cutting fees.

The cost for this package is AUD$645. See it at our eShop.

Micro cruising is an economical way of going cruising without the price tag!

Another exciting Spirited project on the go is an 18m carbon fibre racing rotating wing mast and custom composite boom.

The client’s brief was for a racing rig design to push the envelope in performance and efficiency. The rotating aspect of this design improves aerodynamics and wind flow onto the main sail.

The mast will be resin-infused and most fittings will be composite and integral. The rigging will be PBO fibre and have  ‘soft’ connection points to the mast.

The boom is custom designed with a stylish curved underside to compliment the lines of the cabin top. It is also designed to incorporate a ‘stack-pack’ style sail bag which provides a large entry top so  that the sail can be easily flaked as it’s dropped. Yancy Smith from Doyle Sails will be making a full wardrobe of racing sails for this boat which will include a high aspect main with a square-top. Yancy knows this design very well since he has made the sails for almost every Spirited 380 launched. This client plans to race this boat competitively and we look  forward to seeing the results.

Jump on and go! This boat was launched last year but has only done 4 hours on-water work. This was purely sea trials on Lake Macquarie at time of launch. This boat is now listed for sale with Australian Boat Brokers at Marmong Point marina on Lake Macquarie. As can be seen from the photos the boat is well appointed, on a trailer and ready for action. This boat was the first Spirited 230 to be started and is fitted with twin BF40hp Yamaha 4 stroke engines which deliver respectable speeds and performance. Reported speeds were a top speed of just over 20 knots and a comfortable cruise of 18 knots. This is in line with the original brief for this design which was for an economical light weight cruiser. For anyone interested in this boat please contact Australian Boat Brokers directly: mark@australianboatbrokers.com.au, however if anyone would like more information about this boat that we can help with please feel free to contact us also.

The owners of this Spirited 230 project have been building in a very small shed so have been keen to see their boat outside to get a good view of it. The unconventional way the boat was moved out of the shed was very interesting - we never seem to have a good excavator around when we need one! The workmanship appears to be first class with very little bog used which is always a good sign. The clients will be using this boat as a personal ferry across Moreton Bay to Moreton Island so have customised the interior to provide an open plan layout suited passengers and various loads. Another addition were the two hull portlights into the forward cabin for extra light and ventilation. We will keep you informed as this project progresses.

The 3.6m Ripple project mentioned previously has now been completed. The owners from Mackay Qld, happened to be on a road trip and collected the boat just after Easter. The load looked a little oversized but was secure once strapped on. This design was modified to include an extra 200mm of beam. The proportions look good offering more space internally. The bridgedeck is widened but still practical for rowing when seated with legs each side. The fit-out included lifting fittings and rubber fender strip. This wider design is available on request, for more information on our tender range, click here

Steve Middendorf launched his Spirited 230 on the 13th of March near Gosford NSW. This beautiful example of this design has been built from the Duflex balsa kit. The project took just over two years built in a little shed in a leafy suburb called Tumbi Umbi on the Central Coast North of Sydney. Steve's attention to detail should be commended with careful thought given to every task. Only the best quality of equipment was chosen throughout, the boat is fitted with toughened glass windows, flexible solar panels, custom built top loading fridge and weather screens around the cockpit to name a few. A nice feature on this boat is composite bow and stern rails which are built into the deck and painted to match the boat. This boat is fitted with twin 70hp four stroke outboard engines and delivers a top speed of almost 32 knots. These engines have an extra long leg keeping the powerhead further away from the water and spray.

Last year Frank Mitchell's Spirited 230 was launched with twin 40hp four stroke engines and the performance was respectable with a cruise speed of 20 knots and a top of around 25 knots. The engines at the time were not run in so these figures will likely increase when the engines are run in.

We will keep everyone informed of 'Sea Dog's' adventures as Steve is planning to do some extended cruising trips aboard her.

The Spirited 230 design can be supplied as a Duflex balsa or foam kit. There is also a DIY plans option for anyone with this preference.

The Spirited 480 project in Port Stephens is progressing well with the pre-made furniture modules mostly all fitted. As mentioned previously, this builder had all his furniture already built so there was high visual  reward when suddenly the boat was fitted out in a matter of a couple of days!

This is a custom designed interior with the galley down in the Starboard hull, a stylish deluxe nav station on the bridgedeck and adjacent to this a spacious saloon seating area. This client is a very neat worker with the  quality on par with a tradesman.

A lot of thought has been given to the detail, with custom moulded under-floor shower sumps and associated plumbing and services routing. With this project only around the corner from our office we will bring you regular updates on further progress.

The Spirited 380 being built in Nowra NSW is looking much more finished with most surfaces inside and out primed. The level of detail can easily be appreciated with all fittings and equipment pre-fitted. Chris will live on this boat full time when launched so he wants everything perfect. This is always a nice stage to reach because the end is in sight! We can't wait to see this beautiful example of this design launched!

This Spirited 230 kit is currently under construction in Turkey.  The client reports most of the interior, hull, deck and  rooftop is nearly ready for the final top coat, wiring and plumbing is also done. The quality of workmanship is excellent and we congratulate Sami. We've received feedback regarding his experience with this project:

'Overall, I am very happy with my boat and of course credit goes to you for designing a very nice boat with even the smallest detail considered.'

This design has been very well received for those wanting a compact cruiser which is trailerable and easy to manage. This design is supplied as a comprehensive kit package specifically aimed at DIY building. For more information see our Spirited 230 Design and Kit page.
