We have covered this project being built in New Zealand in an earlier post whilst under construction. After some Covid related delays, this boat has now been launched and looks very well finished. It appears that the builder and owners have tastefully finished this boat to a very high standard. For those of you unfamiliar with this design, it is a power-sailer concept capable of good performance under either sail or power. This is a compact design with standing headroom in both the hulls and bridgedeck cabin however headroom is achieved in the hulls by having the cabin overhang the hull gaining the space required. The internal accomodation is surprising with a galley-up and a generous sized dinette oposite on the bridgedeck. This boat has the main double berth adjacent to the dinette with access from the Starboard hull and the head/shower aft of this. In the opposite hull there are two single bunks, positioned in each end. There are a couple of variations for this design, including a large head and shower in the forward part of the Port hull.

The owners have only driven the boat a short distance to their marina berth however they are planning to do some more extensive sea-trials when the weather improves. We will keep you informed of these updates.

The Spirited 230 design has been a popular choice since release in 2008 but is deserving of a good make-over. Some improvements have been designed into the new Mark 2 design which include raising the freeboard, installing the engines into the sterns rather than on the original pods, designed with XL outboards to keep the powerhead higher off the water, a full length wave-breaker and a new walkway between the engines. The overall length has increased due to the new engine installation and a peak on the bow which will assist with anchoring. The new styling includes an inset window line down the hull sides with opening portlights to compliment the new angular lines.

Building on the proven performance and handling of this design, the underwater hull sections have remained untouched.

Tony has finally launched his pride and joy that he has been perfecting for the last 10 years. Being a part time affair as most amateur projects are, he worked on it over his weekends fitting it in around the rest of life duties. The launch was not without its fair share of drama with strong winds on the day causing some stressful moments. The mast and sails have been ordered and we will bring you more news on this boat when it is fully fitted. We wish Tony a huge congratulations for such dedication to see it through producing another stunning example of the Spirited 480 design.

The new Spirited 320 fills a gap for the entry level builders. We tried to pack in some 'big boat' features such as inboard diesels, decent headroom throughout, spacious interior accomodation for its size and good carrying capacity. The new modern styling sets it apart from others with its angular lines but stilled framed with that 'Spirited' presence. Rigged for performance under sail this design will have pace but balanced with practical cruising capabilities. We see this design suiting a small family learning the ropes out on the bay but building their confidence to setting out on a coastal trip. The payload is limited to the size of this design however the Spirited 320 could cruise off grid for upto a few weeks at a time.

Study plans will be available shortly so please contact us if these are of interest on info@spiriteddesigns.com.au

Developed from the Ripple range, named the 5.5m Rapid, this twin engine center console design is the next level for the keen fisher or day tripper. It could also be used as a tender to a larger mothership fitted with a crane hoist or heavy duty davits. Built from Duflex panel and epoxy, this design will be light weight comparatively with a strong tensile structure and requiring less horsepower to propel. It is designed with a flat level self-draining deck for safe operation and access to all sides of the boat. The standard configuration includes a stylish composite Targa hardtop covering the helm. Powered with 25 to 30hp twin outboards this deign will be easily driven with it's excellent power to weight ratio. There is storage aplenty either below the helm seat, console or front locker below the foredeck. There is further storage below the wet-deck with fuel tanks here too. These areas are accessed through self-draining flush mounted deck hatches in the floor.

The build process is the same as the Ripple range, starting with an interlocking MDF build frame to form the hull over. If building from the DIY plans, all dimensions are supplied for you to cut yourself or to fast-track the project, the kit packages are pre-cut for quick assembly times requiring less technical ability. As with the Ripple range, there are various choice in material including plywood, plain foam and Duflex panel in either foam or balsa core.

Please make contact if you would like further information about the above design.

The fishing trailer boat market is a popular segment. Introducing the 'BALLISTIC 5000' power cat trailer boat with a difference. In a market dominated by name brand production boats, this is a different concept. Offered in DIY kit form or custom built to your own spec, this flexible process allows a variety of options for the buyer. The structure originates from strong Divinycell foam panels which are taped together and also reinforced in key areas with high strength epoxy. The foam epoxy structure is something you won't find readily on the market and is the secret to putting out a unique light weight trailer boat like no other. The custom build continues with full control of fit-out options, personalized to your specific fishing or recreational needs. How do you want your boat set-up, what size and type of bait tank do you want, kill pen, side pockets and storage options, rod holder options and importantly, what type of finishes would you like? The myriad of choices may not suit everyone but for others who enjoy a good project, this opens up so many doors! When talking finishing, this can be up-market high level metallic paint panels through to basic functional 'work boat' type finishes. The twin engine installation suits the safety required with off-shore use as does the well designed catamaran hull. Another feature you will notice with this design is the fully enclosed windscreen keeping the half cabin space well-protected and dry. This feature is trending with most new trailer boats of this size and larger. Aft of the large open aft deck is a twin door set-up leading onto the duckboard between the engines. With the boat reversed into a marina berth, getting on and off the boat is a breeze, or for swimming and diving access to and from the water via a ladder is possible too.

This design is recommended to be powered by twin 50hp outboards however other options are available. Due to the light weight foam epoxy structure the size of the engines could be reduced depending on type of usage.

Tony's project at Taylors Beach is coming along nicely with the outside painted and the interior all trimmed off with timber mouldings. The inside has been painted in a satin finish polyurethane with most of the fittings installed. The overall design can now be appreciated in its entirety with the helm pod and extended cockpit roof overhang working in well the original lines of the boat. The underwater surfaces have all been Copper Coated for extra long life. Although a launch date hasn't been confirmed it seems like it will definitely happen some time this year. We will keep everyone informed as it draws nearer.
